For 36 Provincial Teacher Training Centre directors and deputy directors July 2015 kicks off with an intensive training on peer consultation. After the two-day training the directors head back to their schools inspired on professionalisation and strengthened with skills to collectively reflect on management obstacles.

That’s the goal!

Peer consultations are a new concept within the Teacher Training Department. They fit the plans of the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports to create learning communities for school directors and strengthen their roles and responsibilities. Embedding these peer consultation meetings will give the school directors a more effective drive for quality improvement in teacher training.

Spotlight on the training and the method

The school directors learnt to reflect on and discuss management issues and obstacles through the use of the peer consultation methodology. In-depth reflection, equal contribution and concrete ideas for improvement are the key success factors of this method. The training, perceived as a success by the directors, was a joint-action of the Teacher Training Department, VVOB Cambodia and our Flemish programme partners AP Hogeschool and CVO Horito.

Peer consulting in the field

Once every three months the school directors will come together in groups of three to four Provincial Teacher Training Centers. With the support of the Teacher Training Department and VVOB Cambodia they will reflect on the professionalisation progress of their teaching staff and their school.
