15/02/2011
The Healthy Learning team was in Narok North district from the 8th to 11th February for a workshop with managers of the programme at the district level.
District Education Officers, School Meals Programme Officers and District Quality Assurance and Standards officers from 8 Healthy Learning districts converged to channel a way forward with regard to phase II implementation of the programme.
The focus of the workshop was on impact and sustainability encouraging the participants to stop and think of the impact achieved so far. The officers visited various schools under the programme to assess progress in terms of impact achieved. They further gave recommendations towards sustainability of the various projects ongoing in schools.
In addition to the above, officers tested Healthy Learning standards in a non-model school. Useful insights on improvement of the same were received. Once finalized, the standards will be a means of self-assessment for schools implementing Healthy Learning. They will be able to gauge themselves and decide on areas that need improvement for further action.
