Strengthening the relationship among family, school and society is one of the key themes of VVOB programme. It is also a content of CFS movement launched by the Ministry of Education and Training of Vietnam since 2008.
Parents’ participation in education is extremely important as family and school are the first living and growing-up environments of children. Schools are given more autonomy and school managers and teachers will shoulder a heavier responsibility in involvement of parents and community in education. There are policies and legal documents related to education socialization, yet no detailed instructions/guidelines were given on how to in strengthen the relationship among main stakeholders, one of the most important factors of education socialization.
In 2009 the WU supported by VVOB implemented an activity that is a practical implementation of the government policies and the CFS movement: a model called “Education and Life” club to promote the family-school-society link. VVOB Vietnam has developed a manual named “Strengthening the links among family, school and society, promoting socialization of education”. The manual received inputs from representatives from Departments of Education and Training, Bureau of Education and Training, school managers as well as from Women’s Unions of the 5 programme provinces (Quang Ninh, Quang Nam, Quang Ngai, Nghe An, and Thai Nguyen).
