From July 24 to 26, 38 participants from the DOETs of 5 provinces (Thai Nguyen, Quang Ninh, Nghe An, Quang Nam, and Quang Ngai) attended a TOT workshop in ICT for School Management organized at La Thanh Hotel, Hanoi. The trainees are key trainers of the 5 provinces and will disseminate this training to school managers of Lower Secondary schools.
In the past years, teachers and school managers have been trained on the use of ICT for Active Teaching and Learning. Neverthelesss, the practice and interviews shows that the capacity of ICT managers to apply ICT in school management is still limited. This TOT workshop focused on some specific tools, namely online calendar management, online document management, and spreadsheet application, for school management. These tools might be useful in different aspects such as planning, implementing and monitoring and evaluation.
The manual that was used during this workshop - ICT for School Management - was developed by a team of three experts (Associate Professor, Dr. Ho Cam Ha, Associate Professor, Dr. Le Huy Hoang, and MA Nguyen Chi Trung) in consultation with the key trainers, under VVOB support and has been reviewed and approved by Department of Teachers and Education Administrator of MOET as a manual meeting requirements to be used in in-service trainings.
Apart from learning about specific tools and its application in school management, participants also reflected on the previous multiplication trainings (the topic was Contract work) and shared good practices and lesson learnt. All this might help the core trainers to more effectively deliver up-coming multiplication trainings in ICT for School Management which will take place in August-October, 2013.
VVOB was happy to be informed that the five DOETs would like to multiply this topic to school managers of upper secondary school, which is outside of the scope of our programme, but illustrates the usefulness of our materials.
