Enhancing capacity for managers in the change process toward Active Teaching and Learning is among the core elements of collaboration between VVOB and Teacher Training Institutes (TTIs) in five provinces of Vietnam. In the context of the yearly Education Innovation Plans implemented by the TTIs with the support of VVOB, different coordination and capacity building activities for the TTI managers have been organized since 2008, including resource management workshops, steering committee meetings, study tours in Vietnam and abroad, and a workshop on Innovation in Leadership.
On 22 and 23 May, a second workshop on Innovation in Leadership took place with a focus on in-depth practical aspects of leadership such as writing and communicating of a vision, mission and core values; evaluating the performance tasks of staff; coaching skills and giving feedback to staff, leadership styles, etc. Facilitated by an experienced expert, Mr. Le Hoang Quan, 25 participants (principals/vice principals, heads of departments and coordinators) were actively involved in learning games, group work and individual reflection during the workshop. Based on the evaluation survey conducted at the end, the workshop was found very helpful and interesting, especially in the context of innovation in education. In the coming time, the manual on which the training was based, will be finalized and shared.
