Technical Assistance

VVOB provides technical assistance to its partners in the education sector. Medium and long-term assistance is given by teams, consisting of local and expatriate experts. These education and development specialists are professionally experienced and socially committed to promote our vision. They engage in various tasks, including training, coaching, guiding and planning. The teams are supported by partnerships with local and Flemish institutions offering short-term specific expertise in the field of education and development.

Capacity Development

We focus on capacity development of our strategic and operational partners. Among others, it strengthens their ability to use resources effectively and efficiently in order to achieve their goals. Our actions are aligned with the needs and policy plans of the direct and indirect target groups of our partner countries. We increasingly focus on initiating and guiding processes of change and institutional strengthening.

Bridging Micro, Meso and Macro Levels

We refer to 'micro', 'meso' and 'macro' as the levels of policy and institutions that govern and influence the quality of education in our partner countries. Since our organisation’s size and mandate allows for collaboration with both non-governmental and governmental institutions, our interventions mainly focus on the meso level (sub-sector level partnerships such as with teacher training institutions, and/or focus on the provincial level, etc.). From this angle, we are able to incorporate the macro level policies with the needs and circumstances of the micro level, where implementation takes place.

Our programmes are aligned with local policies. Through partnerships we harmonise them with other donors. This way we are able to safeguard our projects.
