Curriculum Development

Curriculum is considered to be one of the most important elements to achieve good quality education and school effectiveness. It is about defining what pupils should know, understand, and be able to do, by creating the accompanying teaching content.
As curriculum is important, the question should be raised about what kind of curriculum should be advocated for. It is widely accepted that both relevance and inclusiveness are determining factors within curriculum development to ensure quality education.
Curriculum development is a priori an important responsibility of the government. As VVOB is partnering in each country with the Ministry of Education, VVOB is well placed to support the government in developing good and sound curricula.
Some examples
In the DRC, Rwanda and Ecuador VVOB is supporting the Ministry of Education to create and/or reformulate curricula on Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET). VVOB is supporting in Suriname and Ecuador the Teacher Colleges to formulate curricula. And in most of the countries where VVOB is working, the organisation is supporting the implementation of curricula through teacher training and/or other interventions.
