The Be-cause health platform organises a one and a half day seminar to highlight the challenges for ICT in development cooperation in the health sector, encouraging and enabling Belgian stakeholders to integrate ICT in their operations. This seminar takes place on March 24th and 25th in Brussels. Be-cause health is a Belgian platform for exchange on international health and development cooperation.

Health 2.0: Are we ready to go digital?

The event will consist of plenary and thematic sessions, with key note lectures, thematic expert panels and discussions. This is also a networking event. There will be an opportunity to present ideas, tools and applications at a market place.

The first day is aimed at stakeholders in development cooperation who wish to better understand the current transition and to assess the impact on their own activities. The plenary and parallel sessions will have the following themes:

  • m-health applications and interventions to empower patients and households;
  • ICT tools to improve the organisation and delivery of care at facility level;
  • ICT solutions to enhance performance of the health system;
  • knowledge and innovation management.

The profile of speakers and participants will be mixed: experts from North and South, researchers, innovators, entrepreneurs, policy makers, practitioners, etc.

The second half day is open to experts with an interest in the consolidation of the Belgian ICT business ecosystem. A roadmap will be developed, but the establishment of a Be-cause Health working group dedicated to innovation in the health sector is also one of the possibilities. Furthermore a lounge and dedicated space will be made available for experts wishing to exchange ideas and develop partnerships.
