Our New Programmes Start Their Operations: Time for an Overview of our Activities
24/01/2014

The start of this new calendar year entails a series of new VVOB programmes. Moreover, last year we handed over many programmes to our partners and we increased our specialisation in education for development even more... A lot of changes. Time for an overview!

Multi-Year Programme 2014-2016

In our partner countries and in Belgium, our new programmes start their operations. These are part of VVOB's Multi-Year Programme for the period 2014-2016 and are funded by the Belgian Government through the Directorate General for Development Cooperation (DGD).

Objectives

The overall objective of VVOB's Multi-Year Programme 2014-2016 is:
"All learners - boys and girls -  have equal opportunities to quality education that provides them with capabilities they require to become economically productive, develop sustainable livelihoods, contribute to peaceful and democratic societies and enhance individual wellbeing."

We focus on three education subsectors: Early education, Primary education, and Secondary technical and vocational education. Within these subsectors we work mainly around three education components: Teacher Development, School Leadership and Strategic Support.

VVOB in the World

We work in ten countries: Belgium and nine partner countries:

  • in Africa we cooperate with the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Rwanda, South Africa, Zambia and Zimbabwe;
  • in South America with Ecuador and Suriname;
  • and in Asia with Cambodia and Vietnam.

Handover

The conclusion of the previous Multi-Year Programme and the handover of programmes to our partners, meant saying goodbye to these partners in some cases and even saying goodbye to a partner country, Kenya. We will keep a minimum of information on all these activities available on our website.

VVOB’s Programmes and Projects in 2014

Next to the Multi-Year Programme, VVOB has other projects and programmes. At the moment (24/01/2014) these are a programme on school links in Flanders, a project on school leadership in Rwanda and a project on education in community schools in Zambia.

With this flow of handed over, new and to continue operations, it is time to offer a state of affairs. The below table provides an overview of VVOB's current projects and programmes.

We also have an overview on a world map. Download it at the bottom of this article.
