On June 16th 2016, The European Education Practitioners Network organises its second seminar. The focus is on 'Quality Education for Inclusive Societies'. Exclusion usually starts very early in life. Therefore, schools have a central role in promoting fairer and more inclusive communities. This begins in the classroom, with learner needs and experiences at the centre of all decision making. The seminar takes place during the second day of the European Development Days 2016 in Brussels. The session starts at 14h45 and ends around 16h.

Quality education is positioned high on the Sustainable Development Agenda. The fourth Global Goal for Sustainable Development strives for complete free, equitable and quality primary and secondary education. A strong emphasis is also put on eliminating gender disparities and exclusion of vulnerable children. In this session, members of the European Education Practitioners Network seek to generate debate by sharing their knowledge and best practices on how to achieve inclusivity in education interventions in line with Goal 4. These members are International NGOs implementing projects with the support of European donors including the European Commission. Topics covered are among others improving access, quality and relevance in Burundi and the DR Congo; supporting community schools in Zambia; and professional training for youth in Mozambique.

Practical

The European Education Practitioners Network is a newly-founded informal coalition seeking to address the lack of opportunities at European level for organisations working in the education sector to share knowledge and experiences or take advantage of possible synergies. The initial aim of the network is to organise two knowledge exchange seminars per year, thus providing a networking space at the European level to share concrete experiences and best practices in the education sector within the development cooperation.
