This week, VVOB launches a new programme in South Africa. It focuses on improving the pedagogical, methodological and professional knowledge and skills of teachers in Further Education and Training.

To provide a structural solution to the shortage of trained staff on the labour market on the one hand and because of the large number of unemployed young people on the other hand, the South African education sector emphasises on improving the Further Education and Training (FET) Colleges. The institutional landscape of the FET Colleges is changing rapidly and experienced many changes in recent years.

Based on this context, VVOB decided to start a programme that meets the challenges in the FET Colleges. The overall objective of the programme is to improve the learning outcomes of students at the FET Colleges and to increase their chances on the labour market. The specific objective of this programme is to improve the pedagogical and subject-specific teaching skills of the teachers of these colleges. The programme wants to achieve this through a better and wider range of training activities for them. These activities will meet their professional development questions and needs.
