Mid-October 2011, the book ‘Aprender a Enseñar: Una introducción a la Didáctica General’ (‘Learning and teaching: An introduction to general didactics’) is introduced in Ecuador. It is a translation and adaptation of the Flemish work with the same title. This is a book by Roger Standaert, Firmin Toch, Inge Peeters and Stef Piedfort. In Flanders it is one of the important references on didactics. In collaboartion with the original authors and the local partners VVOB came to an Ecuadorian version that is completely customised according to the local context. This is the first contextualised book on didactics in the country!
‘Aprender a Enseñar’ offers a comprehensive method of general didactics. This method is intended for preservice training of teachers, but also for their Continuing Professional Development. Positive is that you can also use the book as a self-study package. It encourages future teachers to critically reflect on their perception of teaching and learning.
