Mid October 2011 the Surinamese Ministry of Education launches a poster campaign that highlights child-friendly and student-oriented education. In collaboration with UNICEF and VVOB they developed eight posters (three for grade 1 to 3, three for grade 4 to 6 and two for the kindergarten years). In late October they will be seen in all these classes, both in the city and the inlands.

The posters reinforce what the teachers were taught in the trainings last year. The applied topics will also receive an extra boost through the concrete lesson plans associated with the posters. They want to provide teachers with ideas and tips to work in a positive and fun way on the social-emotional development of pupils, the group atmosphere, enhancing the learning process and dealing with differences. The aim is that teachers can easily implement these new materials.

With many thanks to all people who made this project possible, in particular Loek Schoenmakers, Gemmie Derksen and Marlies De Wever of BCO Venlo (development of the themes), Hester Jonkhout (photos), Guillermo Ormskerk (layout) and the big Progress family.
