Belgium
Timing:
2022-2026
Budget:
€ 434,500 (VVOB) + € 434,500 (APEFE) = € 869,000
Donor:
Belgium
Sector:
Transversal
Focus:
Capacity development of and collaboration between Belgian development organisations in the education and training sector
Challenge:

Dozens of organisations and individuals are active in the education and training sector in development cooperation in Belgium. Before Educaid.be was established in 2010, there was no platform for structural consultation between them.

Educaid.be is a synergy programme of VVOB and APEFE, who are equal partners (financially, operationally and content-wise) in its implementation.

Goal:

Belgian development actors working on education and training create a (political) context to improve interventions in education in programme countries in Africa, Asia and South America.

Approach:

Educaid.be creates a learning environment in which Belgian actors in education and training in development cooperation create a (political) context to sustainably and structurally improve the quality and inclusive character of education with attention to digitalisation, gender, climate and decent work in programme countries in Africa, Asia and South America.

The programme is built around three pillars:

  • Developing the capacity and expertise of member organisations
  • Promoting complementarity and synergy between member organisations
  • Developing and supporting Belgian policy on education and training in development cooperation

By 2026:

  • Exchange of knowledge and good practices from the programme countries among the members, and input of external expertise leads to more efficiency, synergies and complementarity within the sector of international cooperation and thus contributes to quality and inclusive education and training with attention to digitalisation, gender, climate and decent work
  • Educaid.be is an active and reliable interlocutor of the Belgian government in its policymaking on quality and inclusive education and training with special attention to digitalisation, gender, climate and decent work
  • The platform improves the (digital) internal and external communication to strengthen and support the two other result areas
