eNSPIRED
Title:
eNSPIRED, international dialogue on inclusive and equitable quality education
Location:
Flemish community & Brussels
Timing:
2022 - 2026
Budget:
€1,325,500
Donor:
Belgium
Sector:
Transversal
Focus:
Professional development of teacher trainers, inclusive and equitable quality education, global citizenship and intercultural competences
Challenge:

The educational challenges are global (SDG 4). The education sector in Belgium also has challenges related to inclusive and equitable quality education. Looking beyond national borders and learning about good practices from countries in Africa, Asia and South America can help us in finding creative solutions. Through its eNSPIRED programme, VVOB stimulates and facilitates an international dialogue on these educational challenges between teacher trainers (pre- and in-service) in Belgium and their peers in countries in Africa, Asia and South America.

Goal:

This dialogue is specifically used for the professionalisation of teacher trainers (pre- and in-service) in the field of inclusive and equitable quality education and will contribute to the development of global citizenship competences and intercultural competences in (future) teachers.

Approach:

The programme is built around three pillars:

  1. Process guidance of partner organisations on educational challenges and international exchange. Always with special attention to gender, environment, and decolonisation.
  2. Support and guidance of (future) teachers before and after their international internship or work visit. Using the eduSHARE flow, eNSPIRED motivates them to look for interesting educational practices during their experience abroad. The eduSHARE flow helps to capture, distribute, and apply international practice.
  3. Inspire Belgian educational stakeholders with practices from countries in Africa, Asia and South America via www.enspired.net and by working together with external (communication) partners to spread the eNSPIRED story even wider.

By the end of 2026:

Flemish teacher training institutes and pedagogical guidance services:

  • exchange knowledge, experiences and good practices with their peers in Africa, Asia and South America to use for their professionalisation in the field of inclusive and equitable quality education with special attention to gender, environment and decolonisation.
  • incorporate learning experiences from international student mobility into the work of their teacher training and into the work of pedagogical counsellors.
  • use the inspiring educational practices from Africa, Asia and South America found on www.enspired.net for the continuous professional development of teachers, teacher trainers and pedagogical counsellors.
